Rheinberger’s The Star of Bethlehem tells the Christmas story, with the Angel Gabriel appearing to the Shepherds, and the Wise Men following the Star to offer their gifts to the new born Child. This is a Christmas Cantata in the German tradition with its luscious Romantic harmonies enhanced by Rowen Fox’ sensitive arrangement for wind ensemble. The choir also sing in Rowen’s contemporary English translation highlighting the familiar narrative for both choir and audience.
Musical director, Amy Moore, has again, gathered a selection of carols and other seasonal music to accompany the work and to fill us all with Christmas Spirit.
